This is the second part of the shoot I did with Kate over Thanksgiving break. These are pictures were taken first and I snapped them off in the 30 or so minutes of light that we had left by the time we got downtown. They are a nice compliment to the “Gothic” pictures and certainly more traditional, though to be honest I think the Gothic pictures out shine these. Thanks again to
Kate for being a more than willing model! She was very patient with a little four year old girl who just couldn’t understand why we would be taking pictures and demanded to know when Kate was getting married.
Little girl: Are you getting married?
Kate: No
Little girl: Why are you dressed like that?
Kate: to take pictures
Little girl: are you getting married?
Kate: (smiles) Someday
Little girl: soon?
Kate: Maybe…
Little girl: When? tomorrow?
Kate: No, not tomorrow
Little girl: When?
Kate took it all in stride (as any real model would) and the pictures came out fabulous!

This is what I have fondly come to refer to as “The Gothic Shots”. Kate and I arrived in DC at the National Cathedral a little later than we thought and we only had about 40 minutes of sunset/daylight left. Thankfully this was a blessing in disguise! We had originally planned to shoot in the gardens all afternoon and even do some inside shots but with the waning light we had very little time to shoot anything at all! The light completely disappeared and on our way back to the car to download the pictures I noticed that there were lots of areas around the cathedral that were pretty well lit, so me and Kate set off with a plan. We would get some night time shots, not really “traditional” wedding pictures, but certainly fabulous. Enjoy

It is always so hard for me to pick a teaser picture. I can never decide if I should put up one of the best photos (and risk people being disappointed by the rest) or post one of the pictures that isn’t really my favorite and risk people not really being teased at all. I’ve compromised here because I love this shot of Kate, but it doesn’t give away too much of the grand architecture we shot at and it doesn’t have dramatic lighting. There might just be two posts from this shoot, a ying and yang type thing, so stay tuned for another (drastically different) teaser coming soon.

This was a breif portrait session I did because the fall color was so amazing. Emily’s mom lives in Kansas and Emily doesn’t get to see her as often as she’d like so we figured a photo shoot would be perfect. The leaves were beautiful and Emily was a breeze to work with, but enough chit-chat… Enjoy!

These are my little cousins Ally and Dominick around this time last year. I went down to North Carolina with my Aunt to visit them for their first Halloween (with trick-or-treating). We had such a blast. Unfortunately there aren’t any pictures of Ally in her costume because when it came time she refused to put it on.

We still did the trick or treating because she finally realized that if she went then she got candy! Here are some pictures that I took the afternoon before Halloween.

I’m dutifully going through all of my pictures and posting them here on the blog so you can expect more pictures to come.

A couple of pictures from a portrait session I did with my friend Lauren. Her dark hair and tattoo make her skin really glow, don’t you think?

These are pictures taken a mere 2 months apart. The first three were taken about 3 days before Isabelle was born and two months later I came by to find a wide eyed active little baby girl!
These posts are clearly belated since I only recently posted Erin and Nicks wedding which was over a year ago, and Isabelle is already about to start walking. Time flies so fast!
Isabelle is such a smiley girl, just like her mom. The two of them are a joy to photograph because they’re so much fun to be around. Since these pictures were taken, the whole Estes family has moved up to New York. Hopefully I’ll get up there soon or at the rate time is going the next you’ll see of Isabelle on this site SHE’LL be getting married!

Erin and Nick are my good friends from college so when I found out they were getting married and wanted me to take the pictures I was thrilled! They had a lovely ceremony at the F.T. Baptist church in Sperryville VA, and the reception was at the historic Belle Meade School House during the summer of 2007. The bride’s friends and family pitched in to make a home made buffet of southern classics and the dancing continued long after the sun went down behind Old Rag in the Shenandoah mountains.

Emily and Carol are friends of mine and make such a beautiful couple. When I found out they were getting married this past summer I couldn’t wait. The ceremony was held in a lovely garden where both brides walked down a T shaped isle simultaneously, both smiling the whole way. The reception was held at Woodrow Wilson Birthplace in Stanton, VA; everyone in attendance couldn’t have been happier to see these two beautiful ladies tie the knot.

Congratulations Emily and Carol!

I’m happy to present to you the, much belated, post of Amanda and Dale’s wedding. The happy couple tied the knot at a lovely winery near the border of West Virginia. They had family and friends in attendance and a wonderful time was had by all. The clouds created a lovely sunset and the rain held off until after the reception was said and done, which is exactly how it should be.
The talented bride made the bouquets herself!

Congratulations Amanda and Dale!
